Specialized medical and nursing care to victims of sexual and intimate partner violence

  • 24 hours a day/seven days a week emergency service
  • treatment for sexually transmitted infection
  • provision of birth control
  • forensic collection
  • documentation in the form of the sexual assault evidence kit (SAEK) and crisis counselling
  • safety planning
  • medical and social work follow-up to adult victims who have been sexually assaulted
  • through any of the emergency departments in Lanark County, Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospitals, Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital and the Almonte General Hospital
  • police do not have to be involved to access this service
Eligibility
    Victims of sexual or intimate partner violence of any gender, age or sexuality
  • Sexual assault/domestic violence survivors 16 years and older should be seen within 72 hours of the assault
  • children 15 years and under can be seen at any time

  • elements of the sexual assault evidence kit (SAEK) can be collected up to 12 days after the sexual assault
