Free income tax clinic for low-income individuals and families
- trained volunteers prepare and file income tax returns
- part of the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)
- Eligibility
- General public/All persons who meet the following income criteria:
Income must not exceed:- $40,000 for a single person
- $55,000 for two persons
- $60,000 for three persons
- $65,000 for four persons
- $70,000 for five persons
- An additional $5,000 is added to the above for each additional person
Interest income must not exceed $1,200
Volunteers only complete returns for simple tax situations. A tax situation is simple if an individual has no income or if their income comes from these sources:- employment
- pension
- benefits, such as Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, disability insurance, employment insurance, and social assistance
- Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs)
- scholarships, fellowships, bursaries, or grants
- interest (under $1,200)
Volunteers are not expected to answer complex tax questions. If a taxpayer needs information that is beyond the volunteer's expertise, they can find more information on the website or contact the Canada Revenue Agency

- In-person and drop-off service available (appointments required)
- Call 613-623-7981 ext 108 to make an appointment
- Pick up of completed returns will also be by appointment only, and must be picked up by May 1
- Prepares returns for current and prior years

- last year's Notice of Assessment (NOA) or income tax return
- rent receipts/property tax information
- Senior Property Tax Rebate confirmation letter
- medical receipts
- charitable donation receipts
