- Description
- A publically funded agency of the Government of Ontario which provides a continuum of high quality services to low income Ontarians in the areas of criminal law, family, child protection law, refugee law and mental health law. Services include web-based materials, telephone advice service, in-court duty counsel and advice service, staff lawyer service and certificate coverage. The large majority of lawyers in Hamilton accept Legal Aid Certificates.

- Depending upon the service, clients must meet a financial and legal eligibility test
Ages: 18 year(s) and up - Application Process
- Attend the Legal Aid office in person or telephone and staff will assist in determining whether the type of problem is covered by legal aid
* Applications will not be completed until all financial information is received (i.e. cheque stubs; an up-to-date bank book(s) or statements; a receipt for rent etc.
