- Deals with civil disputes of a monetary value of up to $35,000. Cases over $35,000 are handled by the Superior Court of Justice (civil court). In Ontario, the Small Claims Court is a branch of the Superior Court of Justice.

- Individuals 18 years and younger must be accompanied by a legal guardian
