Ontario Renovates Program
- Description
- Ontario Renovates is a component of the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative program and is being delivered by the Region of Waterloo on behalf of the Provincial government.
One section of the program provides qualified low to moderate-income households with forgivable loans to assist with housing repairs as well as housing modifications to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities.
The other section of the program provides a forgivable loan, to homeowners, to assist with the cost of building a legal secondary apartment suite in their home, and renting it at an affordable rental rate to qualified tenants. - Eligibility
- Individuals/families eligible for this program must:
- Have a household income at or below the maximums determine by the Region of Waterloo
- Have a home value at or below the MPAC assessed value of $ 505,469
- Reside in Waterloo Region;
- Have up-to-date property taxes and mortgage payments;
- Have insurance coverage in place for the full value of the home; and
- Not be in the process of applying for bankruptcy or have an active bankruptcy file.
Ages: 18 years and up - Have a household income at or below the maximums determine by the Region of Waterloo
- Application Process
- Households must apply to participate in the program, and, if eligible, will be placed on the Ontario Renovates (OR) Wait List. Eligible households will be contacted and provided with a Conditional Letter of Commitment.
