Police unit dedicated to addressing hate-motivated or bias-motivated crime
Services include:
- reporting
- investigation
- community outreach, including training seminars for agencies
- intelligence gathering
Expertise is leveraged from multiple sections of the OPS.
- Eligibility
- Victims or witnesses of hate or bias-motivated crime because of race, nationality, ethnic origin, languages, skin colour, religion, sex, age, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation
- Application Process
- To report a hate-motivated incident, drop in in person, use the Ottawa Police Online Reporting online tool or call 613-236-1222 and press 1 for English, then 2 for the Communications Centre.
