Description
Financial assistance with child care costs for children age 0-12 attending licensed Early Learning and Child Care programs, Before and After School, and Recreation programs. Financial assistance can cover some or all of the cost of child care, depending on income.
Eligibility
May be eligible if residing in Waterloo Region and:

  • child is 12 years old or younger
  • applicant is the parent or legal guardian
  • applicant is working, going to school or have a child with special needs
  • the applicant's income meets the requirements
  • Financial eligibility for fee subsidy is determined by a Provincial Income Test, using line 236 from the Federal Notice of Assessment.

    Visit https://www.regionofwaterloo.ca/en/living-here/help-paying-for-child-care.aspx#How-to-apply to complete an online application for fee subsidy and register for OneList Waterloo Region to find a licensed child care space in Waterloo Region.

    Documents Required
    The following documents need to be submitted with application:

    To verify income:
    All pages of most recent Federal Notice of Assessment Form (NOA) or Reassessment Form plus verification of Universal Child Care Benefit payments; or
    Most recent Canada Child Tax Benefit Notice (CCTB); or
    Ontario Child Benefit Notice (OCB).


    To verify employment:
    Six weeks worth of paystubs, and a copy of six week's work schedules; or
    For new employment, a letter from the employer on letterhead that shows the start date of employment and the days and hours of work.
    To verify the birthdates of all family members

    Birth certificate/statement of live birth, passport, certificate of adoption, citizenship card, driver's license
    If born outside of Canada, you can provide a Permanent Resident Card, Canadian Citizenship Card, or immigration documents with the date of arrival for all family members.


    To verify address:
    Mortgage statement; or
    Property tax statement; or
    Lease agreement; or
    Rent receipt with address on the receipt; or
    Letter from landlord; or
    Driver's license.
    Other documents

    If applicable, a copy of divorce or separation agreement or court order.
