Mental health services provided to assess and treat Operational Stress Injuries
Common Operational Stress Injuries (OSIs) include
- posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- other anxiety disorders
- depression
- substance use disorders
- other conditions that may interfere with daily functioning
clinic offers in-person or virtual:
- comprehensive assessment of OSIs
- evidence-based OSI treatment with
- specialized individual, group, and couples' therapy
- pharmacotherapy
- education to veterans, military members, and their families and to other professionals and the general public
The Royal's OSI Clinic belongs to a national network of OSI clinics funded by Veterans Affairs Canada.
- Eligibility
- Participants must be:
- Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member or Veteran
- current or former member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
- a family member of one of the above
- Application Process
- veterans and retired RCMP are asked to discuss a referral with their VAC case manager
- people without case managers may call 1-866-522-2122 (English) or 1-866-522-2022 (French) to inquire about their eligibility
- CAF regular and reserve members who are still serving should contact their Base Medical Officer
- RCMP members should speak with their Divisional Health Services Officer
- to talk to a Peer Support Coordinator, call the Operational Stress Injury Social Support (OSISS) Program at 1-800-883-6094
- requests can also be submitted through a secure message on My VAC Account
- the Royal's goal is to schedule an initial appointment within 15 business days of receiving a referral
