Non-Insured Health Benefits Program
- Description
- offers a needs-based health benefit program that funds benefit claims for a specified range of drugs, dental care, vision care, medical supplies and equipment, short term crisis intervention, mental health counselling and medical transportation
- provides coverage for a limited range of goods and services when they are not insured elsewhere
- provides administration of community service agreements
- Eligibility
- Eligible client must be a resident of Canada and one of the following:
- a First Nations person who is registered under the Indian Act (commonly referred to as a "Status Indian")
- an Inuk recognized by an Inuit land claim organization as outlined in Inuit client eligibility for the NIHB program
- a child less than 2 years old whose parent is an NIHB-eligible client
- a First Nations person who is registered under the Indian Act (commonly referred to as a "Status Indian")

- client identification number
First Nations client identification number:- Indian Act registration number or;
- NIHB issued number (B-number)
Inuit client identification number:- Government of the Northwest Territories health plan number or;
- Government of Nunavut health plan number or;
- NIHB client identification number (N-Number)
